Support flood victims this Saturday

The Queensland floods have shocked us all with their scale and intensity. 20 people (so far) have died and thousands are without homes, with three-quarters of the state declared a disaster zone. Almost 12,000 homes and 2,500 businesses in Brisbane alone have been flooded, with thousand more in towns and rural areas affected. Meanwhile, Victoria and New South Wales have also experienced disastrous flooding.

Over the weekend I was thinking about what I could do to help and have decided to donate all Mr Sparrow's profits from this Saturday, January 22nd, to the Queensland Premier's Disaster Relief Appeal. This will include all sales made between midnight Friday night and midnight Saturday in the online store

Please come down to the store on Saturday or shop online to help raise much-needed funds for the victims of this horrific natural disaster.

The store will be open from 10am - 5pm on Saturday and 100% of the profits will go to the appeal. Thanks in advance for your support of what I'm sure you'll agree is a very worthy cause.

  3. Sorry to hear about the Queensland floods. It's really a devastating catastrophe. You're very generous for donating part of your sales to answer the appeal for donations. I've heard so many incidents like this, not only in your area. That's why my husband and I decided to complete a calamity-preparedness project at home like food storage and storm water management.

  4. It's truly a sad sight. The storm water management that Sharon suggested looks promising. Though I would also suggest investing in building maintenance. Minneapolis, being the humid city that it is, have seen it's fair share of tornadoes and storms. The only thing one can do is preserve the structural integrity of both your residence and building. A good regulation of heat, cold, and ventilation will get you material longevity that could possible help you survive the unexpected.
