Matchbox present giveaway!

Yep, it's time! The five remaining matchboxes from Mr Sparrow's matchbox treasure hunt have not been brought in, which means there are five presents up for grabs! I feel sad for those little matchboxes out there in the big wide world, but I like to think they are having all sorts of wild adventures!

All you have to do to be in the running to win one of the five prizes is leave a comment on this post telling me where you think one of the remaining matchboxes was/is. You can see all the clues for the remaining five boxes here. I'll pick the five winners on Monday and you'll have a week to come and collect your prize.

Sorry, this competition is only open to people who are able to pick up their prize from Mr Sparrow in Subiaco (or send a representative!).

Good luck!

  5. I think one might be at Pata Negra and another at Greenhouse. I tried to find the one at Spring Espresso, but someone just beat me to it! It's a lovely idea for a treasure hunt, I wish I'd been able to find one in person (the little birds are so cute!)

  6. I tried Oxford Street Books and Boucla but no luck for me! Either I was too late or I just couldn't find the little matchbox birdies.

It was fun trying to guess the other ones too. I think the city kid one is the hardest though. I have no idea with that one. xxx

  7. 1 - I looked in every nook of Oxford St books looking for the nerdy bird and couldn't find him. Obviously he isn't at Laneway as they close early and your little guy liked being out mid-morning 'til midnight!

2 - This dulce gorrión of the night must be enjoying some black Iberian pig at Pata Negra in Nedlands.

3 - Greenhouse. However, if I'm honest, I didn't know this one (Oh the shame!) and had to ask a friend. Sorry.

4 - I'm going out on a limb here. A city kid could extend to Claremont, perhaps? Appararition Costume Hire is near the train station so this little sparrow could be watching all the people commuting (and trying on costumes) each day.

5 - I'd swear that the coffee-loving-Freo sparrow was at Gino's. I've not been down Freo way in ages, but I'd start there if I was on the hunt for a good coffee - i bet that your little guy did too!

  8. Ditto to everything everyone above said!!
I also searched Oxford st books high and low ( I must have looked very suspicious!!) but couldn't find it anywhere! Also looked in spring espresso but alas was too late.

  9. 1. Oxford St books - I don't think Claremont people stay up that late!

    2. Pata Negra (maybe Neil Perry or Matt Preston took off with Mr Birdy?)

    3. The Greenhouse (reclaimed furniture = bad for stockings)

    4. I think the Enex food court, with that wall made of old fence posts, that overlooks the mall (you can see bald patches from up there)

    5. Gino's!

Okay it totally looks like I just copied all the other posts above but I didnt, I promise!

  10. Wow, you are all super-sleuths! Nice work :) I think I might need to give another clue for number four, though (the city kid), so here goes:
"The apparition of faces in the crowd remind me of petals on a wet, black bough..."

  11. hmmmm this is still a hard one to figure out
I am sure about all the rest but the City Kid still. I also tried searching for the Greenhouse birdy but could not find him.

  12. Oh! Can the city kid be in Northbridge? Near Ezra Pound? That makes sense... Now I just need to figure out which darn fence he's sitting on... Argh. This is going to do my head in.

  13. I'm still pondering his exact placement near Ezra Pound. I might be way off the mark (I was last guess!) but I think he's near there. It seems like a place the sparrow might hang at, but the clue about not mixing it with the cool kids, but watching the action from afar makes me think that the sparrow might not be sitting on one of the alley way fences that line the venue. Or, maybe he is?!

  14. haha let's just say you're on the right track :) and he's not watching from too far!

  15. Right, in that case, I'm getting in my car and going for a drive. Yesterday I saved a duck from a drain and today, I'm going to find a sparrow. Hurrah!

  17. I think I'm going to have to give up on the city sparrow. I went hunting yesterday afternoon and while I've many pictures of fences, none of them had a sparrow on them. Today's search didn't fare any better either. :(
On the upside, I found some great little places in Northbridge that I didn't know about before.

  18. Im sure the last little sparrow is Gino's, I couldnt find it today but am sure it is there????
Thanks for sending me looking on such a lovely day x

  19. The city kid sparrow would do well sitting on the fence outside the Perth trainstation in Wellington St watching the cool kids during Perth fashion week in Forrest Place. I just hope he is snuggle up warm on these frosty mornings. How wonderful to be able to spot such a rare creature of beauty - Mr Sparrow that is - not the models:)

  20. I love the idea of the matchbox hunt! I looked for the one at the Stanley but couldn't see it. I think the first remaining one is at Oxford Books and the third one is at the Greenhouse but I haven't been able to get to either place to search for them. xx

  21. Hello, birdie in the city must be at Ezra Pound, because you have written down all his lines from "in a station at the metro".
Thanks for exercising our brains, we looked at boucla and oxford books cos we happen to eat and shop there too but couldn't find anything at the time, but the food was delicious as usual at boucla and we found new stuff to read at oxford st!
Will have to try the bar in Northbridge one night...
    Thanks
