Sorry for the lack of action yesterday - I was at the shop but feeling mighty unwell, having been struck down with some sort of flu/virus-type-thing so was doing very little! I'm happy to report I'm feeling a thousand times better today, though!
These lovely things arrived yesterday from domestic aesthetic. These Brooklyn-based product designers believe that you can have products that enhance your life while taking into account people and our planet. All their products are handmade using sustainable materials and no harmful chemicals. The rosebud bowl (top pic) is made from a single piece of industrial felt that transforms into any number of shapes with the help of magnetic connectors. It's great for holding anything from keys to fruit to sewing supplies. The salt & pepper shakers (middle pic) are lovely little forms that speak to each other as well as to the spices held inside. The pepper shaker is made from reclaimed walnut from furniture waste and the salt shaker is finished with low VOC milk paint. The spice block (bottom pic) is probably my favourite. I love its nice, smooth organic form. The block is made from reclaimed mahogany, finished with food-safe beeswax and walnut oil, and would make a lovely holder for salt and pepper or any other spices that take your fancy.
All these very special things are on Mr Sparrow's shelves right now so come and check them out some time. Thanks to domestic aesthetic for the photos.
