As promised, here is a bit more of what I got up to this Sunday. After checking out the Sunday Best markets, James and I did a bit more of a wander around the city (including checking out a fashion parade and hitting up Enex100 for lunch), then headed to Kings Park for the Kings Park Festival. The festival happens in September every year and is basically a celebration of spring and the many beautiful wildflowers that appear in the park (and throughout Western Australia) at this time of year. There are a whole pile of events that run throughout the month but I just like to go each year and take a look at the wildflowers, which are pretty spectacular. You're not allowed to pick any (in fact, it's illegal to pick wildflowers anywhere in Australia, as far as I know), but you can wander amongst them, take pictures and buy bunches from a stall. My favourites are probably everlastings (top pic) because they look so amazing en masse and it is pretty amazing how they literally do last forever. We were so lucky with the weather on Sunday - it had been a horrible cold, rainy morning but right when we arrived at the park the clouds parted and the sun came out. I can't wait for the weather to heat up a bit so we can start having picnics in Kings Park - I'm determined to spend lots of time there this summer because it is a pretty special place to have in the middle of your city.
