I've been wanting to make moss terrariums since last winter and have finally got these little beauties onto Mr Sparrow's shelves. I was inspired after seeing some beautiful ones on etsy but nothing local. I am quite moss-obsessed and love the way a terrarium is like a miniature green world. The moss in these was lovingly gathered by my mum from my parents' Dwellingup property and I have put it together with some pebbles and some super-sweet mini glazed clay houses from The Oak Leaves. The jars are antiques I've been collecting from op shops and swapmeets and I've finished them off with some feathers and a little care label. Moss terrariums are super easy to care for - you just need to keep the moss moist and keep them in indirect (inside) sunlight. Since these ones are open at the top they'll need a misting of water every day but ones with a lid only need water every few weeks. If I can find some nice jars with lids I'll do some like that as well. Come in and check them out if you're around these parts!
So cute! This is strange though Anna, because just this weekend I made myself a moss terrarium out of an old whiskey bottle!
ReplyDeleteThen I was out on Sunday and spotted some excellent moss under a tree so I was scrabbling around collecting it :-)
